Changemakers Series

Main content start

Changemakers is an annual event series made possible by the Yvette Lee Bowser ‘87 Fund. Like its name suggests, the series invites Stanford alumni that have created change to return to campus and speak, inspire, and spark creativity in what it means to truly serve the communities you are a part of.

The inaugural event took place in April 2022, the second iteration of the series took place in April 2023, and the third iteration took place in January 2024. We include a land acknowledgement at each event, to ground and give importance to the Muwekma Ohlone people and all indigenous people that are and have been an important part of Stanford.

Changemakers features three Stanford alumni that are leaders in their communities and are nominated and carefully selected by the staff at the Centers for Equity, Community, and Leadership. The style of the event is to feature a student artistic performance, have a panel featuring the Changemakers and a moderator, and close out with awards to each Changemaker and gifts from the Centers, thanking them for all they have accomplished and their impact on society and the world at large.
